Mäpt Kojd-lit (/kojd/ /lit/ [comic] [balcony]) is a temperate Large Town located in the Sluptprond Principality of the Koiapian City-state.

The name Mäpt Kojd-lit is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Kojd-lit was founded by Pa vyim Mɑnkʤine, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a yearly average temperature of 5°C (41°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 23°C (73°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold -13°C (9°F). Mäpt Kojd-lit receives an average of 214 cm/y (84 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Kojd-lit covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 6718 m (-20908 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt Kojd-lit was founded durring the late 15th century in winter of the year 1394, by Pa vyim Mɑnkʤine. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Pa vyim Mɑnkʤine.

Mäpt Kojd-lit was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Kojd-lit is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Mäpt Kojd-lit is buildings are located arround a single broad cobblestone mainstreet which forms a clockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. Mäpt Kojd-lit's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. Mäpt Kojd-lit's top tier civilian fortifications are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

A look around Mäpt Kojd-lit gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable. This all rests atop the unmistakable impression the town is one of the strictest places imaginable. Everyone’s actions are clearly directed by laws they keep in heart and mind at all times. Orderly byond order is a phrase which Mäpt Kojd-lit brings to mind.

Civic Infrastructure

Mäpt Kojd-lit has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Mäpt Kojd-lit. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Mäpt Kojd-lit's parks.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mäpt Kojd-lit.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Kojd-lit's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Mäpt Kojd-lit possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Mäpt Kojd-lit's grid is powered by mana accumulators.

Mäpt Kojd-lit's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Mäpt Kojd-lit's natural decorations nor waterways.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Mäpt Kojd-lit has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Mäpt Kojd-lit's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is inspired by the natural world, characterized by sinuous, sculptural, organic shapes, arches, curving lines, and sensual ornamentation. Common motifs included stylized versions of leaves, flowers, vines, insects, animals, and other natural elements. Decorative elements found on the inside and outside of buildings include intricate mosaic work, curved windows, and decorative trim work. .

In Mäpt Kojd-lit rain occurs in reverse with water pooling up from the earth then falling into the skies to from clouds, this unsettles every visitor that sees it.

The Skinwraith near Mäpt Kojd-lit are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Mäpt Kojd-lit's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves creating small tokens to channel Enchantment energies of tier 2 via divine sermons.

Economy

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century an otherwise minor earthquake shifted Waterway Neustino. The resulting flood was isolated to the area around Mäpt Kojd-lit, which was swallowed by the waters for several days. Mäpt Kojd-lit lost 110 people, 385 livestock, and 89 buildings in the disaster. The disaster is remembered as the Heartache Drownings.

History
